Należy do obszaru aglomeracji trójmiejskiej, jest stolicą powiatu gdańskiego i od południa graniczy z Gdańskiem. Powstanie i dynamiczny rozwój miasta wynika z jego strategicznego położenia na mapie Polski i Europy. Dawniej Pruszcz Gdański znajdował się nad jeziorem lagunowym, gwarantującym bezpośrednie połączenie z morzem. Tym samym obszar ten stanowił jeden z końcowych punktów na szlaku łączącym bursztynonośne wybrzeża Bałtyku z terenami Cesarstwa Rzymskiego. Stąd sam Pruszcz Gdański jak i jego okolice były istotnym centrum handlu prowincjonalnego oraz dalekosiężnego. Dziś Pruszcz Gdański zajmuje obszar 16,5 km² i liczy ponad 31 tysięcy mieszkańców. Miasto cechują atrakcyjne warunki do życia, bogata oferta kulturalna oraz sprzyjający klimat gospodarczy i inwestycyjny. 

Miasto Pruszcz Gdański jest ważnym węzłem komunikacji samochodowej oraz kolejowej, gdyż leży w rozwidleniu głównych krajowych arterii komunikacyjnych, tj. Gdańsk – Warszawa oraz Gdańsk – Łódź. Przez Pruszcz Gdański przebiega linia kolejowa łącząca Warszawę z Gdańskiem, a od strony zachodniej granicy miasto znajduje się w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie obwodnicy Trójmiasta i autostrady A1. Pruszcz Gdański dzieli zaledwie 20 km od Portu Lotniczego im. Lecha Wałęsy, które jest jednym z trzech najważniejszych, obok Warszawy i Krakowa, lotnisk międzynarodowych w Polsce. Ponadto w mieście znajduje się lotnisko wojskowe. Swoją siedzibę ma tu 49. Baza Lotnicza oraz Aeroklub Gdański, jedno z najstarszych stowarzyszeń w trójmiejskiej metropolii i jednocześnie największa organizacja lotnicza w północnej Polsce.

 

It belongs to the Tri-City agglomeration, is the capital of the Gdańsk poviat and borders Gdańsk to the south. The emergence and dynamic development of the city results from its strategic location on the map of Poland and Europe. In the past, Pruszcz Gdański was located on a lagoon lake, guaranteeing a direct connection to the sea. Thus, this area was one of the end points on the route connecting the amber-bearing shores of the Baltic Sea with the territory of the Roman Empire. Hence, Pruszcz Gdański itself and its surroundings were an important center of provincial and long-distance trade. Today, Pruszcz Gdański covers an area of ​​16.5 km² and has over 31,000 inhabitants. The city is characterized by attractive living conditions, a rich cultural offer and a favorable economic and investment climate.

The city of Pruszcz Gdański is an important road and rail communication junction, as it lies at the fork of the main national communication arteries, ie Gdańsk - Warsaw and Gdańsk - Łódź. A railway line connecting Warsaw with Gdańsk runs through Pruszcz Gdański, and on the western border the city is in the immediate vicinity of the Tricity beltway and the A1 motorway. Pruszcz Gdański is only 20 km away from the airport. Lech Wałęsa, which is one of the three most important international airports in Poland, next to Warsaw and Kraków. In addition, there is a military airport in the city. The 49th Air Base and the Gdańsk Aero Club, one of the oldest associations in the Tri-City metropolis and at the same time the largest aviation organization in northern Poland, have their headquarters here.
